Created in 1987, RCCL’s private resort Labadee, on the north coast of Haiti, offers by far the best day at the beach of any line and is very popular with passengers. Its setting is particularly beautiful -- an amphitheatre of lush green mountains rises immediately behind a lovely cove with a series of crescent-shaped beaches, providing seclusion and protecting the crystal clear waters of the bay. Here, RCCL built several pavilions for dining, entertainment, and water sports equipment, as well as a marketplace with shops of good quality Haitian art and crafts, which are the best in the Caribbean. Music, dancing, and performances by a local folklore group are provided.
